SIUT celebrates the 2nd Anniversary

Samarkand International University of Technology (SIUT) marked its two-year milestone on February 4, 2022. University has been established by Presidential Decree No. PD-60 on January 28, 2022, “Strategy for the Development of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026” (Goal 49: Establishment of Samarkand Technological University along with leading technical universities of foreign countries). The initial steps towards this endeavor were taken on December 2, 2021, with the signing of an agreement between the Colorado School of Mines and SANEG (Sanoat Energetika Guruhi) in New York.

On February 3 this year, in the ballroom of Hilton Samarkand Regency hotel in Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex, a festive event was held on the occasion of the second anniversary of SIUT. The event was solemnly opened by Rector, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yusuf Abdullaev.

“Innovations based on advanced knowledge are the key to sustainable development in the modern, dynamically changing world. Science is the foundation for the accelerated modernization of all sectors of any country's economy. With the goal of preparing a new generation of engineers-technologists for Uzbekistan, our university was founded two years ago” – emphasized Professor Yusuf Abdullaev, Rector of SIUT.

Congratulations were extended by various dignitaries including Professor Joseph Stark from USA, Director of the SIUT Language Center; Rustam Kobilov, Deputy Governor of the Samarkand Region; Sukhrob Rafikov, Chairman of the Samarkand Regional Council of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan; and representatives from Eriell Group of Companies. Timofey Smirnov, CEO of SEG Enera, delivered a congratulatory message from Chairman of SIUT’s Board of Trustees, Bakhtiyor Fazilov.

“From the very beginning of its operations, the Samarkand International University of Technology has been focused on realizing the main task set by the President of Uzbekistan for higher education – preparing domestic professionals at the level of global educational standards. Today SIUT consistently expands international cooperation, studying and implementing the best innovative approaches into its programs. The engineering workforce of the New Uzbekistan must possess the most advanced technologies to ensure our country’s economy always holds a respectable position in the world” – emphasized Bakhtiyor Fazilov, Chairman of SIUT’s Board of Trustees, in his message.

The event program was full of various performances, songs by Zulfiya Rashidova, head of the Spirituality and Education Department of SIUT, chamber orchestra of folk instruments “Sadaf” under the direction of conductor Kamoliddin Sattorov, dance performances of the student theater studio “Oltin Meros”. Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, actor of Samarkand State Regional Musical Drama Theater Bakhtiyor Rakhimov performed Alisher Navoi’s monologue from Iqbol Mirza’s poetic drama “Samarqand Sayqali”. SIUT professor, poetess, holder of the order “El-Yurt hurmati”, holder of the medal “Shukhrat” and various state awards, member of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khosiyat Bobomurodova presented SIUT’s official anthem in lyrics for the first time.

Numerous partners and friends of SIUT from around the world also sent congratulatory video messages to the University. A musical composition by Galina Maslova, singer-songwriter, composer, member of the Russian Society of Authors, winner of All-Russian song festivals, as well as a poem by Irina Alekseeva, poet, essayist, member of the Union of Writers of Moscow, dedicated to the two-year anniversary of SIUT, left bright and warm impressions on the audience.

At the end of the solemn event singer Marat Sadykov and the participants performed the song “My Way”.
